FAQs
ABOUT COMMISSIONING
-
Data centre commissioning is the process of testing, verifying, and optimising all systems and infrastructure before a facility goes live. It ensures the data centre performs as intended from day one, with no hidden risks or failures.
-
A commissioning agent manages the coordination, documentation, and execution of commissioning tasks. They ensure systems are safe, compliant, and fully operational by overseeing testing and quality control.
-
A commissioning agent typically handles the technical delivery of tests, while a commissioning manager oversees the process at a project level - managing timelines, teams, and compliance from start to finish.
-
We commission COLO (colocation), hyperscale, enterprise, and edge data centres across various industries, with a focus on the data centre industry.
-
We offer both. Global Commissioning can act as your Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Agent depending on your project needs.
Commissioning Process & Technical FAQs
-
Commissioning is delivered in stages.
Level 1: Factory acceptance and delivery checks
Level 2: Installation verification
Level 3: Equipment startup
Level 4: Functional performance tests
Level 5: Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
-
IST is the final phase of commissioning where all systems are tested together under realistic operating conditions to confirm full end-to-end performance.
-
You’ll receive a full commissioning report, test scripts, sign-offs, redline drawings, and final verification certificates. Everything is aligned to industry standards and your compliance needs.
-
It depends on project size and scope. A small COLO site might take weeks, while a hyperscale facility could require several months from Level 1 to Level 5.
